Learn how to draw a skull - with 9 different skull designs to choose from!

There are many different ways to draw a skull, so you can use these designs as a starting point to make your own funky skulls that are uniquely you! When you get comfortable with drawing the outline of a skull, you then have the option to color it in, like the ones on the right!

Learn how to draw this skull!I recommend that you first sketch your skulls with a pencil, so if you make any mistakes, you can easily erase them. Once you've drawn a skull that you like, you can go hog wild with markers, crayons or pens to make your skull come alive with color!

This drawing lesson will show you all the steps to create the skull on the left. You can draw this skull in just 8 easy steps! There are also 8 other skull designs to choose from, so have a look at them all below!

Skull Drawing Lesson #5

How to Draw a Pencil Drawing of a Skull

This skull is a bit more complicated than the other skulls, so there are more steps. Watch the animation on the left before you start drawing, so that you can see how the individual steps build to create this cool skull drawing!
 

Step 1

Step 1: How to Draw a Skull

Start drawing a circle, but leave a wide opening at the bottom.

Step 2

Step 2: How to Draw a Skull

On both sides of the open circle, draw a line that slopes gently downwards.

Step 3

Step 3: How to Draw a Skull

Connect the 2 lines that you drew in Step 2. This forms the jawline of the skull.

Step 4

Step 4: How to Draw a Skull

Above the line you drew in Step 3, draw a parallel line above it. This will be the middle of the teeth.

Step 5

Step 5: How to Draw a Skull

On top of the line you drew in Step 4, draw a series of upside-down u-shapes to form the top row of teeth.

Step 6

Step 6: How to Draw a Skull

On the other side of that line, draw a series of u-shapes to form the bottom row of teeth.

Step 7

Above the row of teeth, draw 2 raindrop shapes for nostrils.

Step 8

Draw 2 large eyes. You're done! Easy, eh?
