Learn how
to draw a skull - with 9 different skull
designs to choose from!
There are many different ways to draw a skull, so you can use these
designs as a starting point to make your own funky skulls that are
uniquely you! When you get comfortable with drawing the outline of
a skull, you then have the option to color it in, like the ones on
the right!
I
recommend that you first sketch your skulls with a pencil, so if you
make any mistakes, you can easily erase them. Once you've drawn a
skull that you like, you can go hog wild with markers, crayons or
pens to make your skull come alive with color!
This drawing lesson will show you all the steps to create the skull on the left. You can draw this skull in just 8 easy steps! There are also 8 other skull designs to choose from, so have a look at them all below!
When you're done drawing your skull, you can then color and decorate your skull drawings for Day of the Dead! If you don't know what Day of the Dead is, read all about it! For examples of my Day of the Dead art, see my skull drawings on the right.

This
skull is a bit more complicated than the other skulls, so there
are more steps. Watch the animation on the left before you start
drawing, so that you can see how the individual steps build
to create this cool skull drawing! |
|
Start drawing a circle, but leave a wide opening at the bottom. |
On both sides of the open circle, draw a line that slopes gently downwards. |
Connect the 2 lines that you drew in Step 2. This forms the jawline of the skull. |
|
Above the line you drew in Step 3, draw a parallel line above it. This will be the middle of the teeth. |
On top of the line you drew in Step 4, draw a series of upside-down u-shapes to form the top row of teeth. |
On the other side of that line, draw a series of u-shapes to form the bottom row of teeth. |
|
Above the row of teeth, draw 2 raindrop shapes for nostrils. |
Draw 2 large eyes. You're done! Easy, eh? |
Here is a helpful animation that shows the order of all the step to create this skull. |
