Alcohol Marker Art

Making alcohol marker art is a fun and rewarding experience, because you can create so many different styles of art! Whether you’re into cute kawaii art, or portraits and still lifes, or abstract art—you can use alcohol markers to bring your creative vision to life.

On this page you can see several dozen examples of what you can do with alcohol-based markers. All of these artworks were made by me! Most of them are pages from my published coloring books or printable coloring pages, so you can color them too if you want!

I mostly used Copic Sketch Markers to color in these illustrations. Sometimes I use Ohuhu Markers or Arrtx Markers. I enjoy all three brands and recommend them highly.

I often also use other media on top of alcohol markers, to do things like:

  • add details

  • add texture

  • adjust the hue

  • brighten highlights

  • darken shadows

  • fix mistakes

My favorite media to use on top of alcohol markers are colored pencils, gel pens, paint pens, ink pens, and 3D paints. Whenever I use these additional media, I always put down a base layer of alcohol markers first (usually carefully blended, such that it could certainly be considered a finished artwork at that point).
